ܘܐܢܐ ܐܚܝ ܟܕ ܐܬܝܬ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܠܐ ܒܡܡܠܠܐ ܪܘܪܒܐ ܐܦܠܐ ܒܚܟܡܬܐ ܣܒܪܬܟܘܢ ܐܪܙܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ

When I came to you, brothers, I didn’t come with excellence of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.

ܘܠܐ ܕܢܬ ܢܦܫܝ ܒܝܢܬܟܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܡܕܡ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܐܦ ܠܗ ܟܕ ܙܩܝܦ

For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

ܘܐܢܐ ܒܕܚܠܬܐ ܣܓܝܐܬܐ ܘܒܪܬܝܬܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ
lwthkwn hwyth wbrthyth' sgy'th' bdkhlth' w'n'
I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.

ܘܡܠܬܝ ܘܟܪܘܙܘܬܝ ܠܐ ܗܘܬ ܒܡܦܝܣܢܘܬܐ ܕܡܠܐ ܕܚܟܡܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܬܚܘܝܬܐ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܘܕܚܝܠܐ
wdkhyl' drwkh' bthkhwyth' 'l' dkhkmth' dml' bmpysnwth' hwth l' wkrwzwthy wmlthy
My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

ܕܠܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܟܘܢ ܒܚܟܡܬܐ ܕܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܚܝܠܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ
d'lh' bkhyl' 'l' dbnynsh' bkhkmth' hymnwthkwn thhw' dl'
that your faith wouldn’t stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

ܚܟܡܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܡܠܠܝܢܢ ܒܓܡܝܪܐ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܠܐ ܕܗܢܐ ܥܠܡܐ ܐܦܠܐ ܕܫܠܝܛܢܘܗܝ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܡܬܒܛܠܝܢ
dmthbTlyn hn' delm' dshlyTnwhy 'pl' elm' dhn' l' khkmth' bgmyr' mmllynn dyn khkmth'
We speak wisdom, however, among those who are full grown; yet a wisdom not of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who are coming to nothing.

ܐܠܐ ܡܡܠܠܝܢܢ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܒܐܪܙ ܗܝ ܕܡܟܣܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܘܩܕܡ ܗܘܐ ܦܪܫܗ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܥܠܡܐ ܠܫܘܒܚܐ ܕܝܠܢ
dyln lshwbkh' elm' qdm mn 'lh' prshh hw' wqdm hwth dmksy' hy b'rz d'lh' khkmth' mmllynn 'l'
But we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom that has been hidden, which God foreordained before the worlds for our glory,

ܗܝ ܕܚܕ ܡܢ ܫܠܝܛܢܐ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܗ ܐܠܘ ܓܝܪ ܝܕܥܘܗ ܠܘ ܠܡܪܗ ܕܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܙܩܦܝܢ ܗܘܘ
hww zqpyn dthshbwkhth' lmrh lw ydewh gyr 'lw ydeh l' hn' delm' shlyTn' mn dkhd hy
which none of the rulers of this world has known. For had they known it, they wouldn’t have crucified the Lord of glory.

ܐܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܟܬܝܒ ܕܥܝܢܐ ܠܐ ܚܙܬ ܘܐܕܢܐ ܠܐ ܫܡܥܬ ܘܥܠ ܠܒܐ ܕܒܪܢܫܐ ܠܐ ܣܠܩ ܡܕܡ ܕܛܝܒ ܐܠܗܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܪܚܡܝܢ ܠܗ
lh drkhmyn l'ylyn 'lh' dTyb mdm slq l' dbrnsh' lb' wel shmeth l' w'dn' khzth l' deyn' dkthyb 'yk 'l'
But as it is written, “Things which an eye didn’t see, and an ear didn’t hear, which didn’t enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him.”

ܠܢ ܕܝܢ ܓܠܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܒܪܘܚܗ ܪܘܚܐ ܓܝܪ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܒܨܝܐ ܐܦ ܥܘܡܩܘܗܝ ܕܐܠܗܐ
d'lh' ewmqwhy 'p btsy' klmdm gyr rwkh' brwkhh 'lh' gl' dyn ln
But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

ܐܝܢܐ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܕܝܕܥ ܕܒܒܪܢܫܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܒܪ ܕܒܗ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܕܒܐܠܗܐ ܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܪܘܚܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ
d'lh' rwkhh 'n 'l' yde l' 'nsh db'lh' 'p hkn' dbh dbr rwkh' 'n 'l' dbbrnsh' dyde brnsh' gyr hw 'yn'
For who among men knows the things of a man, except the spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God, except God’s Spirit.

ܚܢܢ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܢܣܒܢ ܐܠܐ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܢܕܥ ܡܘܗܒܬܐ ܕܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܬܝܗܒ ܠܢ
ln 'thyhb 'lh' dmn mwhbth' dnde 'lh' dmn rwkh' 'l' nsbn delm' rwkh' hw' l' dyn khnn
But we received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that were freely given to us by God.

ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܦ ܡܡܠܠܝܢܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܕܡܠܐ ܕܚܟܡܬܐ ܕܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܘܠܪܘܚܢܐ ܪܘܚܢܝܬܐ ܡܦܚܡܝܢܢ
mpkhmynn rwkhnyth' wlrwkhn' drwkh' bywlpn' 'l' dbnynsh' dkhkmth' dml' bywlpn' hw' l' mmllynn d'p 'ylyn
Which things also we speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things.

ܒܪܢܫܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܒܢܦܫ ܗܘ ܠܐ ܡܩܒܠ ܪܘܚܢܝܬܐ ܫܛܝܘܬܐ ܐܢܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܠܗ ܘܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܕܢܕܥ ܕܒܪܘܚ ܡܬܕܝܢ
mthdyn dbrwkh dnde mshkkh wl' lh gyr 'nyn shTywth' rwkhnyth' mqbl l' hw dbnpsh gyr brnsh'
Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him, and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

ܪܘܚܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܢ ܘܗܘ ܡܢ ܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܡܬܕܝܢ
mthdyn l' 'nsh mn whw d'n mdm kl dyn rwkhn'
But he who is spiritual discerns all things, and he himself is judged by no one.

ܡܢܘ ܓܝܪ ܝܕܥ ܪܥܝܢܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܢܠܦܝܘܗܝ ܠܢ ܕܝܢ ܪܥܝܢܐ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܢ
ln 'yth dmshykh' reyn' dyn ln dnlpywhy dmry' reynh yde gyr mnw
“For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct him?” But we have Christ’s mind.
